Multi-level direct sales companies use downlines to increase sales and your position in the company. <p>Downlines are the business partners that you bring into your business.  As you increase this number, you&#8217;ll increase your commission percentage. Most multi-level direct sales compensation plans have sales reps earning money on the products that they and their associates are selling to their respective customers. </p>
<p>So as you grow and build relationships with customers, they&#8217;ll become repeat customers.  At any time, any of your customers may take an interest in beginning their own direct sales business.  As a consultant and business owner, you would mentor and guide them through the process of getting started. </p>
<p>You&#8217;ll show them the ins and outs of the business, share your strategies for getting more sales and turning a profit.  You&#8217;re happy to help &#8211; not because it&#8217;s part of what you do in a multi-level company, but because you believe in your products and you&#8217;re successful in direct sales.</p>
<p>As a joyful result, you&#8217;re building solid, long-term downlines. All of these new direct sales business owners will invite more business associates, partly with the strategies that you&#8217;ve given them and partly with a few of their own. <p>Another part of your earning potential in direct sales is getting people to purchase your products.  It&#8217;s going to be a harder sell if you&#8217;re not completely committed to the products you&#8217;re selling.  To move higher in commissions and sales while increasing your downlines, you must have a belief in your products and your company. But, you are not alone. For your downlines to remain solid, they must also have the same belief and commitment level that you do.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not easy to move up in the direct sales business, but if you work on creating your downlines and help others create more downlines, you can do move up successfully in any company.  </p>

<p>What is a downline?  We&#8217;ll explain that first.  When you begin your direct sales business, some compensation plans involve inviting other people on board as sales reps as well.  Your earning potential is related to the number of people you bring into the company.</p>
<p>It sounds a little like a pyramid scheme &#8211; direct sales businesses that are out to defraud their consultants &#8211; but that&#8217;s not what we&#8217;re talking about here.  With legitimate direct sales company, downlines are the representatives that you bring in, and the people that they invite, and so on and so forth.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s talk about how to turn your downlines into increased earnings.  What is important to you in your direct sales business?  The difference between a great business leader and an average one is how they see their business customers.</p>
<p>To build your earnings and, more importantly, to help others realize their dream of being an entrepreneur, will determine the failure or success of your downlines.  Someone who is interested in only profiting will usually only be concerned about the number recruits, and not the individual relationships with those people.  A savvy rep can convince anyone to join a direct sales business, but you never know if they may get disillusioned and quit.</p>
<p>In order to build your downlines correctly, begin with caring about those you invite into your direct selling business, whether they&#8217;re a customer or potential business partner.  As the lowest level of the totem pole, you bring in others who you feel would benefit from being in direct sales.  As a mentor, you guide them through the getting started process.</p>
<p>Many people have remorse after they sign the contract. For whatever reason, they start regretting the decision to join.  As a leader, you&#8217;ll want to gently move them along until they build their confidence up and get on their feet. This is one part of your commitment and belief in the business.  Find out what made them get started in direct sales and build on that reason. Remind them of what they are working towards.</p>
<p>Once they&#8217;re ready, they&#8217;ll also begin to recruit business associates.  Focus on people who are the most serious about starting their own business.  Those are the people who will persist and stick with direct sales. They will make wonderful team members.  By building a strong team of reps, you and they will build upon your downlines and your bottom line.</p>
<p>Do you want more stable downlines?  Develop a real interest in your customers.  Growing successful relationships will grow a business quicker than preaching to the general public and just trying to sign people up.</p>

<p>If so, then there is a formula to follow and there are three qualities you’ll need to have. They are Leadership, Creativity, and Commitment.<span id="more-897"></span></p>
<p><strong>Be A Leader</strong></p>
<p>Direct sales, or network marketing as it is sometimes called, rewards its leaders generously.  The leaders in the company are the ones who are willing to go the distance. They hold conference calls, use their homes to hold meetings, or climb the ladder to corporate trainer. A leader will help and train others how to be successful, no matter if they are crossline, downline, or in another opportunity).</p>
<p>Leaders will always be able to make a home in the direct sales industry, because every single CEO, and every top company earner, wants one great leader in their organization.</p>
<p><strong>Creativity Pays Off</strong></p>
<p>Network marketing rewards the creative leader handsomely.  I remember when Dale Maloney (an MLM leader in this industry for 20+ years) scraped up a few bucks and purchased a mailing list, stamps, envelopes, and paper to send out sales letters. He wanted to recruit others into his business opportunity. I was in Dale’s second group of people to receive a letter. Up until that point, no one else thought to use direct mail to build a network marketing organization</p>
<p>I still remember the first national ads that ran in the USA Today and the first toll-free recorded information lines. There was also mailing audio tapes (even before Dead Doctors Don’t Lie), email marketing, and flash presentation lead capture websites.  The creative people who first used these marketing breakthroughs in the direct sales industry made small fortunes.</p>
<p>The next cutting edge technique is just waiting to be brought out and into the market.  History shows that if you’re inventive and unique, you will be greatly rewarded.</p>
<p><strong>Commitment Is Rewarded</strong></p>
<p>Network marketing always rewards commitment, and often times lavishly.  If your plan is to give up after you hear a few no’s, or if you think you’ve done enough recruiting once you’ve got your first couple of people in (like most of the average people), then I advise you to quit now. Average people in this industry rarely make much money. In fact, many of them lose money. Why is this? One simple reason: they are not 100% committed to being a success. For whatever reason, they just aren’t willing to do whatever it takes. Being committed to doing whatever it takes is, without a doubt, essential to being successful in this industry.</p>
<p>No matter what anyone tries to tell you, there is no such thing as “Easy” or “Fast” money in the network marketing industry. I’m sure you’ve heard all thes…  “No cold calling.”  “No selling.”  “Work a couple hours a week&#8230;”  “Retire in two to three years&#8230;” Don’t you believe a word of it!</p>
<p>Lifetime residual income is not something that you can create in just a couple months time. It takes years to build a retirement income, even in the direct selling industry. It takes hard work, confident selling skills, persistence, and consistency. You need to be absolutely committed to these basic values to achieve great success.</p>
<p>So pick your favorite, or devour all three.  The three qualities of leadership, creativity, and commitment are vital to your success, both in network marketing and in life.</p>

Any master recruiter will tell you, in order to have a successful downline or team you will need to keep your teams attention and keep them motivated.  If you are going to be sponsoring people into your direct sales business, you need to make sure you can offer the support your team may need. They key is to motivate your team and not be to pushy or overbearing.<span id="more-638"></span></p>
<p>So, how do you keep your team motivated? Here are some tips for keeping your downline excited and motivated!</p>
<p>1. Use a newsletter to keep in touch with your team members. Each month send a newsletter with new product info, top sellers, or even your own personal success. This will keep your team members excited as they see other members of their team doing well and also remind your downline you are there for them.</p>
<p>2. Offer an incentive to the team member who has the highest sales for a month or to the team member who introduces the most people to the business. The incentive could be somthing very simple, yet it is used to give your team a goal to acheive to win. Some sponsors offer a gift certificate, next months new product, or even inexpensive items from your company.</p>
<p>You will find that many team members will work hard to reach the incentive.</p>
<p>3. Keep in contact with your downline! This is very important as a team leader and team builder. Your team needs to know you are available for help if they need it and also enjoy a call to congradulate them on their own personal success. This time will give you some one on one time with each team member to answer any questions they may have and also remind them of any incentive you may be offering.</p>

Getting a strong downline will also help you increase your income with your direct sales business. <span id="more-631"></span>Understanding recruiting and team building will help you be a better sponsor and team leader. What are downlines?  In direct sales/party plan programs, downlines are the business associates that you personally sponsor or bring in to the company. When you start your own direct sales business, some of the compensation plans involve helping others become consultants as well.  Your earning potential is tied to the number of people who you get to start their own direct sales business. The larger your downline is, the larger your checks can be!</p>
<p>Now , let’s discuss how to turn your downline into bigger profit for your business.  What are your priorities in your direct sales business?  The difference between a good business leader and a run-of-the-mill one is how you view their business clients.</p>
